We are proud to announce that we promote metal-free dentistry for a number of reasons:
Still under debate is the issue of whether these fillings give off enough mercury vapour to threaten your body, but most people prefer not to take the risk. Whenever a silver filling is removed, a rubber dam should be used to prevent swallowing of the metal pieces.
For a small cavity, the use of tooth-coloured composite resin material is ideal. For larger cavities, tooth fractures and replacing deep amalgam fillings, porcelain inlays and onlays should be considered. Inlays are placed inside the tooth and onlays fill the inside of the tooth as well as cover the top or side of the tooth. Porcelain fillings are more expensive, but they’re also the best. They resemble natural tooth structure and its characteristics the closest. They’re tooth coloured, exert no pressure on the remaining tooth structure and preserve the remaining tooth structure the best.
